Hardware

I use my old gaming system for all my home server needs. 4 6tb ironwolf NAS drives, an i5-6600k, and whatever ram i left in it. Been running ubuntu server for like 6 years. Dead simple(and free!)

Tech Stack

Pug & Express - templating/view engine

NodeJS & Webpack - server side

NginX - reverse proxy

No react! I don't like it and I think its overused. For sites like this with static "blog" like pages, a simple templating engine is better, especially for lower effort projects like this.

Fishcam

Originally, I had the fishcam streamer run on the same device as the server itself. As part of the move to NodeJS after 4 years, I'm splitting up those roles(mainly because I kept kicking the power strip) & I'll have a docker container running a FFMpeg UDP stream over my local network to be muxed in to HLS on the server. For now, it remains unimplemented since the tank has moved.

Telemetry

I also plan to add telemetry from the Jetson Nano that is restreaming the video; things like temperature, TDS, water level, time since last water change, etc.

The Cappuccino!!

I bought this Cappuccino from Mendy Imports(good experience, would recommend for anyone in the Northeastern United States) as a Grade R(mismatched paint on body panels) on 11/7/2024. It was in very good overall condition with limited rust. It is a 1993 Limited trim with around 110,000 KM at the time of writing. Since then, I've modified a great deal and will detail it below.

Engine

The car came with the Monster Sport F100 kit, and I've kept that for now. I originally added a boost controller, accidentally blew the turbo, and rebuilt the engine with the following over my first winter with it:

  • GReddy 659.9997CC forged pistons(staying under 660)
  • Stock Rods & crank
  • King F8CV crank bearings & ACL rod bearings
  • Forest Engineering 1.85mm head gasket
  • Forest Engineering valves & valve springs
  • Chinese HT07-4A turbo
  • ARP head stud conversion(400-8544, AMN12-1, AM3.935-2GB)
  • Lightweight alto works flywheel + Exedy SD02D clutch + SC10T plate(alto flywheel only!)

I then had the block checked for flatness, the head skimmed, and the cylinders bored at my local machine shop. Much to the chagrin of my bank account balance, I replaced pretty much every seal while I had it apart as well. I use Valvoline VR-1 10w30 in it.

Induction

I have a Zero1000(tight fitment, don't recommend) Shine Purple intake going to the HT07, then to Navic intercooler hard pipes coupled w/ Aliexpress purple couplers(couldn't find them anywhere else and they work so far!), and through the ARC Intercooler.

For boost control, I'm using a Greddy Profec OLED. It works well enough but the screen freaks out randomly sometimes. Not sure whats up with that.

Exhaust

Currently it goes from a Billworks turbo outlet pipe, to a stock front pipe, to the JWorks SEA-51. Looking at replacing the front pipe as I believe it is the smallest link in the chain and it is the only part that isn't stainless steel.

Exterior

The car was originally painted in a deep blue, with one fender being mismatched to a dark purple color. There's no evidence of crash damage anywhere, so I'm not sure what happened. The paint is pretty cooked anyways, so I'm currently repainting it. One of my test colors is shown in the mirror picture. I've added a cheap underglow kit to it which I think is hilarious and I love it. I don't really like how the car looks from the back, so I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any. I was thinking maybe a big diffuser would help.

Wheels

I originally had OEM wheels, but I switched to Suzuki Sport Type Cs in 14x5.5. Sadly I don't have any good pictures yet. I'll be running 175/65r14 Goodyear Eagle Sport 2s since I could get them locally. I also really like the Enkei Tuning SC14 on these and I'm looking out for those if I can source them.

Interior

I've continued the underglow to the footwells, as well as matching the purple color to the center light. I've kept the theme going with purple & green stitched shift + e-brake boots from Redline Goods, and I have a Vertex Evangelion Racing EVA-01 steering wheel.

Gauges

I use a Defi Advance ZD for my main gauges(oil press, temp, etc.), and a Glowshift AFR gauge mounted in the A pillar.

Audio

The car came with a Pioneer DEH-P650 Japanese radio(with a BTS CD in it lol), and i've kept it since it looks pretty nice. I've added the following

  • Kicker Hideaway HS10 10" Sub
  • Kicker KS 6.5" Primary drivers
  • Dayton Audio 0.5" Tweeters

My Voron Trident

My 3d printer is a 300mm cube Voron trident with a BTT Octopus mainboard, NFCrazy Volcano hotend, Dragonburner toolhead, and Sherpa Micro extruder. I also have had a Beacon surface scanner since preorder and it has been absolutely wonderful. Rather unconventionally, I do full sensorless homing for X/Y cause I never wanted to bother with endstops. It's worked great for me so far lol.

I desperately need to move to mainsail or something as I've got an old Octoprint installation complaining about being on python 2 and unable to update anymore. Its been around for like 5 or 6 years at this point lol.
